Solid enough pay. Awesome benefits. Working at a neat little private school in town.

Kinda wanna take it. Kinda wanna go fuck myself and die.

Called back and accepted it. Nothing to do now but focus on the positives, of which there are many...

Thanks. :) It really is a great opportunity.

I'm feeling guilty about my negative tone in the OP. I'm very grateful for this offer.

Why do you feel bad?

Do you think it won't be as fulfilling or meaningful as living an unstable life on your individual work alone?

Man, I'm feeling pretty wary of how you phrased this... Picking up some judgment. I did the responsible thing already. Let me be my dude.

Congrats

Thanks chief. :)

If it were me and I was making it on the freelance work, I'd continue doing the freelance work.

If I wasn't making it, then well I've already made that choice several times and would again :)

not sure why you cant do both. Small free lance projects on the side for fun and then your normal job.

Congratulations. I woulndn't be worried. If it turns out to be no good, or if you miss what you were doing before, you can leave. You won'd be chained there. Try it out and see how it goes.

EDIT: For me, I had an office job for four years that paid well enough for me to live comfortably for the rest of my life and it was not difficult. But I hated the thought of doing that for thirty or more years of my life and that being that. Which is why I'm back in school now to do something different. Every office job isn't the same, though. Yours may be more rewarding. Mine was monotonous and I did not like that everyone I talked to saw me as the enemy and were usually rude to me for no reason.

Insurance claims. Everyone thought that I was trying to find ways to screw them over or pay them minimal.

I'm gonna do both a little bit. But I'm one of those idiots that wants to have a life outside of work, too. Also freelancing isn't, like, fun. It was just a job I was doing because I was good at it and got a bunch of freedom.

Yeah, thanks. :)

That's pretty awesome you dropped it and went back to school. I hope you'll find your next career (nursing, right?) more rewarding. How did you know that's what you wanted to do next?

I worry mine will be similar, but I'm trying to stay optimistic.

There's no judgement. That was just my guess why you would on some level feel bad about going from freelance work to office work.

Why did you say you wanted to "fuck yourself and die"?

Freelance is not stable. Only if you're a truly remarkable person living in a big city can you really make a name for yourself freelancing. In this economy, stable jobs with benefits are much better. If you freelance, you should hope to earn twice as much as a stable desk job.

My bad; I'm sorry Agis. I guess I get defensive about this.

I didn't mean that, shouldn’t have said it. I apologize. I didn't mean anything by it.

Some people do. I thought the same thing as well. Intent is not easily detected over the internet :\

Well yeah I guess you didn't mean it, but what prompted you to say it at all? You should express any feelings you have about it, it's okay if they're not all positive.
