Is it weird that a company's website can be constituted as a "public forum"? I kinda think so. I think mainly addressing people through twitter is dumb though for such a public official.

Also dude, would it kill you to provide information or sources in your own post for people?

It should be considered a public square. So leftist companies cannot arbitrarily censor people on the right for bs like "hate speech" or whatever.

And the president has said he uses Twitter to take his message directly to the people. Message unaltered from the Lying Press Fake news media. Its smart.

And you can Google it.

But it's owned by a company, right? It's not a government owned thing.

Ok but then blocking people from seeing it?

And you can Google it.

And you can paste it. It would be much easier. Plus if you think left media is biased then post where you get your information from. Lest you have someone coming from a "biased" position.

The bakery was owned by a company, not the government. Still attacked by the left for not baking the cake.

Yes.

If you are really interested you can Google it and read about it, it would have been faster certainly.

There's many instances of bakeries so saying "the bakery" makes me question which you're referring to. Those instances that I'm aware of have to do with discrimination. Not freedom of speech. Also what does "attacked by the left" have to do with anything? I was talking about the idea of a company being identified as a "public forum".

If you are really interested you can Google it and read about it, it would have been faster certainly

I already read it before you posted this. I mean for other people coming into the subject new.

What constitutes an "effort post"? we have to type out a short story now and source it like I'm writing a college essay when bringing up a subject?

That would be ideal. Yes.

What constitutes an "effort post"?

How about more than just "lol" for starters? I mean especially for a forum that is mostly about debate like this one.

Why do i need to say something ? Why can't I just present an event that occurred ?

Posted May 23rd by #85

literally anything (like a link to a source perhaps) would have been better than a post title, "Lol" and telling people "u can google it."

Why can't I just present an event that occurred?

What if someone were to make a post that says: "Trump calls people 'animals'" then just says "Lol Trump"? Wouldn't you say a little more information and some context is necessary in this situation?

Why do i need to say something?

I mean you can probably just post a link source or quote the whole thing without saying anything yourself.

In absence of anything else an article, even if appended with only a "lol", should be sufficient. It gives us something to work with when trying to start a discussion.

I tend to think that such a discussion would at some point come around to a reminder that impeachment is how judges are removed from office. The silver lining in this perversion of justice is that the president will almost certainly ignore the ruling as there is no mechanism in place to enforce it.

It's an appallingly stupid ruling. With the media scrutinizing and reporting on every shit Trump takes, you're not going to convince me that people are deprived of anything by not being able to see his tweets directly on Twitter.

i sure wish we had a link to the ruling itself so i can tell if jo nathan is full of shit or not

hmmm. i can understand the argument based on the idea that trump's tweets are "official" govt statements.

it's interesting that the right just had a complete 180-degree shift on this though!!! i guess they're okay with milo being banned from twitter now?

Trump is a GIANT pussy for this.

(Btw I can change the last word of my sentence if a certain someone insists that I “keep it civil”).

Wait, #85 you're actually against the ability for Twitter to block whoever the fuck they want? How very liberal of you, regulating private companies and putting restrictions on the last actual free market like that.

Also I agree with Famov. Having an article that starts a decent discussion should be enough effort for a post.

No, but SOH and Agis are, and I have gotten wayyyyy more heated with them (and them with me) than I’ve ever gotten with #85, yet I’ve only ever been reprimanded for insulting #85. Hmmm..

Really, I don’t see the problem with cheap shots so long as no one is the target of sustained, malicious harassment and there is also a legit discussion going on.

Gonna point out while I'm no angel. 85 has called me and my family illegals on multiple occasions a number of which did not warrant such comments. And nothing was ever been done or addressd.

The lack of consequence for a far right user has always been an issue on this site . glad things are beginning to slowly change with nul around.

I don't see everything and what I do see is, of course, affected by my personal viewpoints. If something is a problem and we're not on top of it, don't let it get lost in the forum slide. Make a thread in Feedback and explain the situation so that we have a clear record and we can take action against problematic users in a faster and more efficient way.

You hit the nail on the head SOH; it’s a double standard. I wouldn’t entirely blame the staff though. The reactionary right has always known very well how to self-victimize and manipulate decent people sympathetic to free speech. I hate it because I value free speech/expression, and if the entire West collapses, I hope at least that one principle will stick and be passed down to our descendants. But these people make freedom of speech seem like a Nazi talking point, and they aren’t even consistent as they only want free speech for speech they approve of, which is how we get a double standard.

Hi. Just dropping into this shit forum to say this:

In absence of anything else an article, even if appended with only a "lol", should be sufficient. It gives us something to work with when trying to start a discussion.

The biggest joke of this piece of shit forum is this idea. That people posting explicitly to mock and demean is considered "something to work with." That starting conversations fundamentally from a place of bad faith and with a genuinely insulting tone is somehow "productive" or will allow something to grow. But sure, sure. Keep deluding yourself into thinking that people STARTING with hostility makes for productive, quality conversations.

Ok! Now resume your shitty, dead-end "conversations" that are just insults at one another in which people go out of their way to misrepresent each other. Have fun, kids!

I can safely say this forum is still better for political discussion than most of the internet, sad as that seems.
