We're gonna need a bigger boat.

Ghost Rider - Speed of Soul
- Psytrance so its best with headphones.

--

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata

A little back story here. Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata is played by my brother in a youtube video, and it's the only thing I have left of him. It lets me be with him for 6 minutes when I need it. So I can't make the list without including this song.

--

Far Too Loud - Faster Than Light

Honestly just my Jam.

--

Ohayou Sayori

That song can cheer me up any time I'm feeling down.

--

Hurt - Johnny Cash

--

That's all I got so far. It requires a lot of thought.

I'm writing this list in no particular order. It would be far too complicated otherwise.

1. Venenum - Cold Threat
2. Mastodon - Hearts Alive
3. Opeth - Blackwater Park
4. Death - Symbolic
5. Sleep - Dopesmoker
6. Between the Buried and Me - Sun of Nothing
7. Meshuggah - I
8. Haken - The Architect
9. Soen - Lotus
10. Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar

Rush -- 2112 would be on there, but it feels like cheating.

Dude, Dopesmoker is a sixty-three minute song.

That's a mix dude. Electric sheep is a program, not a song name.

My ipod with my 10 alotted songs would treat it as a song.

If we're citing longest compositions, I'd just pick one of the Bull of Heaven tracks that are longer than the projected life of the universe. I just legitimately enjoy Dopesmoker and it's actually composed as a traditional song instead of a mix or a loop.

I genuinely enjoy psytrance. I wouldn't enjoy Bull of Heaven. I'll make a list later. I know Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata is on there though.

Queen - I Just Want to Love You
Abba - Angel Eyes
Michael Jackson - Thriller
John Lennon - Imagine
Celine Dion - Because You Loved Me
Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody
Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger
Alexander Alejandro - Poison
Kygo - um, 1 of anything?
Fredric Chopin - Etude Op. 25 No. 12 "The Ocean"

I find myself picking more easy listening when it comes to only 10 songs. I mean, the more experimental AMAZING songs are like fine wine, meant to be enjoyed on rare occasion. Drink too much and you'll get drunk.

I consider it more like opiates in that you get desensitized to it over time. But, then again, searching for progressively more interesting things isn't bad. It's just unfortunate when people do it out of a sense of obligation or elitism.

I mean, I started this list trying to think of the best song by the best groups, but realized that wasn't a playlist of the only 10 songs I'd listen to for the rest of my life: that was just a mess. Can you imagine The Beatle's A Day In The Life with Bohemian Rhapsody and Elton John's Tiny Dancer with Abba's The Winner Takes it All? Jesus, sooner or later I'd just want to hear a NORMAL song!

Normal songs are palette cleansers. They help the rich ones stand out more. A good playlist is not simply picking all the best songs, but deliberately selecting a bunch of songs that sound good next to each other.

In no order:

1. Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie (A Man After Midnight) - ABBA
2. You Should Be Dancing - the bee-gees
3. Boys - lizzo
4. Union City Blues - blondie
5. Don't Stop Me Now - queen
6. Dumb Disco Ideas - holy ghost
7. Boogie Wonderland - earth, wind, & fire
8. Da Doo Ron Ron - the crystals
9. Just Can't Get Enough - depeche mode
10. Dancing On My Own - robyn

List will usually change up every so often, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some of my all-time favorites, but this is definitely a playlist I would be super into and never get sick of.

I mean, on a list of ten slots to last the rest of my life, I definitely picked favorites instead of trying to build a playlist. All of those songs are rich in different ways and you're not obligated to listen to them back to back. But hell, I've listened to most of these on loop and loved it.

God damn it. No room for Aphex Twin, Deakin, Ariel Pink, Dick Diver... not to mention the obvious fact I haven't pick any "classics". Just things I couldn't live without.
