I think I'm consuming too much soda so I'm probably going to at least try switching to vitamin water

I really don't know if it's related to my problems at all right now but I suppose it couldn't hurt and it's probably not a bad place to start unless for some reason I now need all of that sugar. How do you all handle soda?

Diabetic here with type 2. I was flat out told I can still eat my favorite foods. I was told to slowly wean myself off the regular soda or switch straight to diet.

It's just that there aren't many diet soda flavors/kinds, so I always go back to reg soda. I'm also on a low carb diet which I admit I haven't followed. A good alt to diet/reg soda is flavored water though!

What problems do you have?

You might get low blood sugar or something. Keep a little bit around just to wean off.

I quit soda the same time I quit sugar (and virtually all carbs) in general. I do drink diet soda sometimes, but that's pretty rare too now.

Diet coke has some new flavors -- the twisted cherry one is pretty good. I also like the orange cream coke zero.

You're right. I'm not looking hard enough I guess. I still highly suggest that OP tries to swap to diet soda or flavored water. Also if need be get tested for diabetes. I was borderline diabetic for a year myself.

You don't want to mess with diabetes, trust me OP.

Vitamin Water is a Coke product that's just as bad as soda (I swear, I get canker sores whenever I drink that trash lol)

Recommend flavored water (Aquafina has some nice like grape / berry waters that I used to drink in college) or seltzer. I quit soda last year in favor of Polar Seltzer and feel better all-around.

Specifically I'm looking at vitamin water zero.

I like these because they kinda taste like soda, but they generally only have like 2 ingredients (nothing artificial, no sweeteners). They're like 5 calories/can or something.

I'm not sure if it'd be a problem for me personally but looking more up it sounds like vitamin water zero may not necessarily be good for you either, but it sounds like it's certainly safer than regular vitamin water at least. So I guess I'll look into some other flavored waters.

Had these and the store brand at my old job...they weren't horrible. I didn't like the taste, tbh.

There's carbs in it, and I'd say go for the zero brand as serve size is 1 bottle after all.

la croix water + some type of sweetener is probably going to get you the closest to soda without it being soda. Bonus points if you use xylitol so it ends up being a net positive for your teeth.

Is something wrong with Diet soda? It takes a little bit of time to adjust to the taste, but I made the transition years ago, and now the only soda I ever drink is diet. Regular soda tastes funny to me the way diet soda used to.

Of course if you want the healthiest possible answer the obvious thing to do is cut out all non-water drinks altogether.
