The Nostalgia Forum

Where the past still shines

It was my fist real experience on the internet as a kid. It really sucks what happened to it, but I'm glad this version of it exist son in some form. I have a lot of love for Gametalk cause nostalgia, so I'm glad it's lived on in some form.

I can't imagine what my gaming life would be without the original Gametalk. Throughout most of high school I spent a lot of time there going from forum to forum and was crushed when the original site went down. I'm glad xhin made this one, even if it's not as active as the original

I didnt start coming to The GameTalk until I was a freshman in college in 2003, and was devastated in 2008 when it went down for good. I too am very thankful that Xhin pickup up the baton and has invested so much work to revive and sustain GT.

I remember that my very first interaction on The GameTalk was in response to someone asking a question about a quest in LoZ: Wind Waker. Then I found the boxcube forum, changed my life forever.

I was only 13 when I first went to GT (2003) and was almost 18 when it went down. The devastation hit slowly because for a year before I remember when GT would be down for a weekend or almost a week even for repairs. Then after a long time I just felt like it wasn't coming back. Shame really.

I know I said it in another post but I wish it would've held out just a little bit longer. When social media really took off later that year and the year after I could've added a lot more people that I talked to nearly daily. I think all of us lost some contacts since those days.

I wonder if GT didn't tank in 2008 would it be like GTX0 is now with nobody new coming in and old people leaving slowly or would it be just as active.

The thing is, most of the regulars from the original gametalk made their way here after Xhin got it setup, and were active until just a few years ago. I am curious as to where most of them went.

Anyone that was on GT back in its heyday is an adult now, with all the vast responsibilities and commitments that come with that. GTX0 isn't remotely active enough for most oldies to commit any significant time to it, if they even had the free time. Like me, most users also found contact information for those they cared about before or after the site went down, so the need to return to this fansite is hardly necessary. And dare I say, many people who frequented the original GT grew so attached to it because they were very troubled in their personal lives at the time and have since found their peace. People move on.
