Esprit I am confused is Quebec getting a hockey team or not?

This is odd that we have 31 teams now even though it was 30, they decided to give Vegas it’s first professional team. Detroit moved to the east even though Colombus is east of Detroit. What happened to the Atlanta Thrashers moving to Winnipeg?

Heya, Weid! Cool that you remember :D. My Sens (Bruins fan second) are having a terrible season on and off the ice because of our joke of an owner .

The NHL is expanding to Seattle, as well. They will ice the 32nd team starting in the 2021-22 season, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't been following the process very closely. Last I checked, they had to figure out their arena situation. Once they enter the league, the conferences should be aligned. You're a fan of the Californian teams, right? The Sharks are a strong contender in the West--I'll be rooting for Karlsson! Please resign him so we get our conditional pick.

Not sure if and when Quebec City will receive a hockey team. I suppose Quebec's a reliable relocation spot for teams in the East, with a new NHL worthy arena and established market (albeit not a lot of potential for growth).

More of a King’s and ducks fan since I live in so cal (fox forever said “HOLY DICKS at kings fans going nuts after winning their first Stanley Cup title”. But I’ll be cheering for the Sharks too they’re the only Cali team that hasn’t won a Stanley cup title and my friend lives in the Bay Area now and went to a sharks game. They always choke in the postseason somehow. My dad was rooting for Vegas last yesr’s Stanley Cup. Seattle will send Colombus to the east.

Columbus actually moved to the East along with Detroit. The Central division only has 7 teams, so the addition of Seattle will even out everything. Not sure which teams will be moved, though... Seattle is closer to Pacific teams (and could probably form a regional rivalry with the Nucks).

Must have misinterpreted them to be Colorado. Are you aware that the sens are the first and only team right now to be eliminated from the playoffs? I bet you feel ashamed at that fact. My dad likes the new Vegas team and when I was on vacation in Seattle back in 2009 he mentioned how the city was longing for a hockey team and the only telecasts they got were from the nucks and sharks games. Why did the Atlanta thrashers move to Winnipeg? I don’t follow hockey really, it’s longer broadcasted on abc and espn like it used to be. Gary Thorne and Steve Levy were the master commentators. Now it’s on versus and nbc.

Haha, I'm well aware that we were the first to be eliminated ;p. I wouldn't say I feel ashamed. Disappointed, yes. But eh, I don't really feel embarrassed or humiliated over sports teams because I know it's completely beyond my control. In fact, our fanbase feels more alienated than ever because of our incompetent and meddlesome owner. Melnyk needs to gtfo. He single-handedly botched plans to build a new arena in the downtown core in the national capital region. He refuses to spend money to retain talent and demonstrate the organization's commitment to winning. Sorry for the derail... it's an unmitigated disaster.

I predict the Vegas GL will make another deep playoff run. They picked up an exceptional player in Mark Stone from Ottawa. He oozes hockey IQ and is an exemplary player on the ice and in the dressing room. Sadly, he was truly my favourite player, but I'm honestly okay with the return (best we could due in the scenario); we've got elite prospects on defense now.

Atlanta actually lost two NHL teams. The first time the franchise relocated to Calgary due to financial woes. The second time they relocated to Winnipeg due to financial struggles and a legal dispute between owners. Third times a charm?

So it will stay two divisions per conference after Seattle joins the west next year?
