i'm not talking about "oh these are fun songs and it's fun to drink to them" like AC/DC or something

i mean the songs that scratch that same itch that makes you want to drink in the first place, so when they're combined, you get two notes ringing together or an "Ommmmmmmmmmmmmm"

i would say:

1) all of MTV unplugged (the nirvana one aka the only one that matters)
2) a place to bury strangers - "don't think lover" & "another step away"
3) ramshackle glory - "never coming home"
4) mischief brew - "old time mem'ry"
5) violent femmes - "american music"

what are you favorite drinking songs? (remember, not drinking songs but songs to drink to)

Fun fact: the US National Anthem is just a poem sung to a popular drinking song from the early 1800s.

I don't know that I really have any songs that I specifically think of as ones I like to drink to. Pretty much anything Fleetwood Mac, Queen, B-52s, or Talking Heads really just gets me in a great mood, so I'd probably put that on.

The only song I can think of that I've listened to the last few times I've had drinks was "Chocolate" by Big Boi.

Hey Jude comes to mind as a song that has the right mood and melody to make a group sing along.

Yep. It was generally popular back then for writers to take old songs and just replace the lyrics (especially with more patriotic ones during times of war), so Francis Scott Key did that with his poem/song "Defence of For McHenry," which grew in popularity and, over 100 years later, became the national anthem as the re-titled "Star-Spangled Banner." Most drinking songs in particular had a variety of lyrics, often depending on the region, so it wasn't a big deal.

Okay, so you know how when you're drinking and a cheeseburger sounds like the most amazing thing in the world, and then you get one and it is? That's... what Dokken is like for me.

If anyone ever wanted to blackmail me all they'd have to do is threaten to reveal this information to my friends and family.
