As a " Person of Color" I have a hard time believing in White Privilege.

I do not deny its existence. But I do not believe it is as big as an issue as the left makes it out to be. Why do I have a time believing in it? Well you see my neighborhood had mexicans, blacks, whites and a large hmong and mein community. We all faced the same struggles and challenges when the going got tough my white counter parts did not pull out their white privilege card and get a "get out of poverty" jail card from our "capitalistic oppressors" no sir. When the going got tough they hunkered down like the rest of us because their color of their skin didnt meant squat to any one.

I also dont believe in the notion that the system is rigged in favor of whites. While there are some circumstances where things seem like they (cops targeting blacks) from my experience poor ghetto looking whites are also targetted by the powers at be.

I would like to hear Famov s take on this narrative the older I become the more I start to agree with him.

Any who thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Then you have more of a brain than a lot of virtue signaling white liberals.

Because you can’t deny the explicit bias that occurs in the American Police System. There is a targeted effort to bring blacks to heel, by white oppressors. We have a President who was elected by whites to aid in expulsion of non-white peoples from this country and deny entry to immigrants. We have a president who refers to African countries as shitholes. You look at Arizona, they have a law where they can pull over brown people and ask for identification. This doesn’t occur among whites as far as I know.

Wikipedia defines the Progressive Stack as "...a technique used to give marginalized groups a greater chance to speak.", but this is not really true. It is instead a technique by which people exhibiting certain characteristics are told that their opinions are invalid on that basis and not worthy of further consideration. And even if you check off enough arbitrary oppression boxes to sit relatively high in the stack you are sure to be excluded the moment you express an independent thought.

The phrase "Check your privilege!" went from being a debate tactic to being a point of mockery to being a dead horse meme within the span of a half dozen years. Maybe that's not too impressive since the internet moves so fast, but I think it's safe to say that the very idea those three words represent would not have been so easy to defeat were it based on a foundation of something other than tribalism and malice. It's not enough to say that it's dehumanizing to be told that what you are disqualifies you from having a valid opinion. We must acknowledge that the purpose of this rhetoric is to foster ideological homogeneity.

It is not obvious to most people that there is any great advantage to living in a dead Appalachian coal town (population: white people) compared to being a part of a racially "diverse" post industrial ghetto. No matter what you are, who you are is a summation of experiences that no one else is going to have. Consider how you differ from your own siblings, if you have any, and then wonder how it could be even remotely sensible to reduce yourself with generalizations of race. Every person has the potential to be so much more than that, provided that they have the good sense to make that choice. And while it's true that a person can be shaped, to a point, by circumstances outside of their control, racial explanations give an incomplete picture. What does it matter if you have a particular shade of skin when you're being ostracized by your peers at school for having the audacity to show academic interest? What makes it more likely that a child will succeed: Being white, or having a father that gives a damn?

The pop sociology of "privilege" does not account for the complexities of life, and in a political context has been weaponized against dissenters.

Oh yes I too remember the Obama Presidency.

the most heartbreaking thing i’ve read all week. you know that “you’ll get more conservative as you get older” is just a boomer meme, right? you don’t have to live it

Sorry friend but I am. Don't worry a lot of my views are reserved for my own life I don't try to enforce them on others.

Being an SJW doesn’t make someone far left, it makes someone far authoritarian. The right has its own flavor of SJWs too.

Oh and on the whole, class/money privilege means wayyyy more than any kind of race or gender privilege.

Boomer memes, eh?

What I'm saying is that we need to modify our metaphorical deflector dish and then blow up the suffocating orthodoxy of PC politics, not that we haven't already. It's difficult to be more discredited than these goofballs without being an anti-vaxxer or flat-earther.

This last one's just for fun:

Attacking SJWs is like shooting fish in a barrel. It was somewhat important at one point to strangle that sort of thinking on the left before it became an actual threat, but now it’s mostly pointless. Why not take on an actual challenge such as climate change, global oligarchy or endless war?
