ARMS demo available on Switch Eshop right now.

I downloaded it the other day, and I just finished two play throughs right now. He basic tutorial in the demo is short and it takes you to two matches fairly quickly. This is a demo from Nintendo done correctly, unlike, ahem pokken tournament.. which also happens to give you finite tries. >_>

Its actually really fun, and I got a decent work out with the joycons! I might actually buy a digital copy of this game!

At first I was like... How does this "Sad" guy from GTXO on my friends list play +165 hours of this game.. I don't know anyone who does.. He's crazy O_o o_O But I can see how its 9_9. It's $60 bucks retail though, but I get good eshop deals on ebay to buy eshop $50 cards for 42.50.

tl;dr version: Check out the demo if you haven't played ARMS already. It's pretty fun! I recommend checking out Puyo Puyo Tetris and Dragon Quest Builders Demos as well.

cool, tell me if you do

I haven't looked at the demo to see what's in it - what have you done/enjoyed so far?

lol

some of that is just menu idling and stuff, but online multiplayer (especially during events) can really rack up time tbh. I haven't been playing constantly since release, but it's good for "oh hey I feel like picking that up for a little bit" stuff, or just coming and going with your own interest level. It's v customizable and the best place atm to get my fix of smacking people around while being cute:

(part of a random ranked match from the other day; the game saves your recent replays automatically so I saved a clip - I assume this roboman was trying to trick me, but I'm wise to that shit and it is he who will be cranked)

tbh I have hoped they'd lower it a bit to build its popularity and audience some because it's a cool game and I hope it has a solid future ahead (continued attention, some amiibos/merch, a sequel someday...that kinda stuff). There have been a bunch of updates and it still gets active dev attention and events, and I have no problem finding people to play with (even without joining a discord or something to meet up with people). Like most fighting games imo, it doesn't feel like a ton of content if you don't get into multiplayer somewhat, but that's because it's the obvious focus (like short solo campaigns in FPS games). And most importantly, it's still fun so I play sometimes yay c:

Yeah the only thing I'm worried about is single player content. I don't play multiplayer much outside if a once in a blue moon when my cousin comes. It's why mk8 deluxe only got me at less than 20hrs total because of the shallow single player.

Yeah this game looks surprisingly deep with all the arms combos(and you can mix and match too o_O). I think I'll pick it up eventually.

Do you usually play with joycons or pro controller?

not much interest in online multiplayer though?

true. Each character (15 total) has their own unique traits, and you can unlock the full set of 42 weapons for each - there's a lot of room to adjust for how you prefer to fight (or help you look for a way to overcome things giving you trouble).

I usually use the switch as a portable with the joycons still attached to it, otherwise a pro controller is good too. Motion controls work fine, but since I rarely dock the thing to play I've never really gotten used to them.

I dunno.. I played a decent amount of online on the wii, but not nearly as much on wii u and switch. The majority of my online play was on call of duty and I'd have a party with friends.. MK8 on the wii u and switch got kind of old for me and didn't play much online multi on them.Doesn't help that switch's online isn't all that great, especially in the voice chat dept.

42 sets of different weapons for each is crazy! Especially when you can do one on each hand..
