Nintendo and Microsoft have been working together quite a lot recently. Cross play, Microsoft characters being added to smash Bros including banjo Kazooie too.

Why do you think Microsoft don't release console exclusive games for Xbox anymore? Because they don't want to be too much of a competition for Nintendo. Their goal is to buy Nintendo so the Series X would be the main console and the Switch would be the handheld console.

Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo back in 2000 but Nintendo refused because they thought Microsoft lacked knowledge and experience of the gaming industry. But Microsoft have plenty of game industry experience now.

I would love to play Mario, Zelda, StarFox, DK, Pokémon and Metroid with top quality graphics, performance and super fast loading times. It would be awesome seeing these games with next gen capabilities which the Switch can't even handle.

We need a Zelda game for us more mature gamers too. One where there is blood, one that is a bit more realistic than breath of the wild, one where you can swim underwater too.

So what do you think guys? Should Nintendo release games on the Xbox Series X? Seeing as Microsoft has been doing so many favours for Nintendo recently.

Yes but I don't see even more corporate buy outs as the answer here for nintendo's shortcomings, I think nintendo just needs to get it's shit together and actually give a shit about what their fans want.

I don't think Nintendo should. It would lower the value of their brand. Certainly not like Mario, Zelda or Pokemon anyway. I could see a game like maybe animal crossing going to xbox or playstation or even cell phones. But Nintendo's IPs are their livelihood and it would be a slipperly slope for them. Right now consumers can count on buying Nintendo products as collectables that hold their value.

Part 2 of this is simple. Microsoft wants attention from the Japanese audience. Nintendo is doing fine in both North America and Japan. Microsoft has more to gain from Master Chief or Steve being in Smash than Nintendo has to gain from releasing Donkey Kong or Metroid on Xbox.

Last I checked, Nintendo is literally the richest company in Japan. They have nothing to gain from going multiplatform.

Microsoft still has Console exclusive games in that the XBOX ONE and XBOX Series X are the only consoles that are getting most of first party AAA games that MS is releasing. Now, they are obviously releasing most of those games on PC but that's because MS is wanting to tap into the PC gamer market that has been getting somewhat ignored for a long time and it's a smart business decision.

Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo back in 2000 but Nintendo refused because they thought Microsoft lacked knowledge and experience of the gaming industry. But Microsoft have plenty of game industry experience now.

This statement is incorrect. Microsoft tried to partner with Nintendo, which Nintendo rejected. MS also tried to do the same thing with SONY which also was Rejected.

Why, exactly do us "more mature" gamers need all of that?

No, I think Nintendo should continue to focus on supporting and improving the Switch. Apparently there is a Switch Pro that is rumored to be coming out sometime soon so if you want better graphics that will probably give it to you.

Nintendo's stocks are at an all time high. It makes no sense for them to agree selling to Microsoft.

Also, Miyamoto made it pretty clear he's not too jazzed about modern game design. He gawked at Kinect and VR, saying he prefers games with physical buttons. However, he seems to be lenient with letting newer teams do what they want.

Miyamoto is a genius but he's an old boomer.

Miyamoto's made a few mistakes, but in a remarkable career that includes the advent of level design and 3D, I think his few missteps can be forgiven.

I understand his POV. Really good, solid games need good, solid controls. A physical button gives you that, Kinect doesn't. Even aiming makes more sense on a 2D screen than VR. Animal Crossing became this generation's breakout game, that didn't have an innovative control scheme, just interesting and chill gameplay.

The problem is that now he's just a producer in most of his games. Rather than a developer.
