What is your history with GTX0?
I joined Mike's Gametalk in early 2005, when I was still in high school. Along the way I've learned to admire Masse's temperament, Stonemage's no-nonsense distrust of government, Qwey's seemingly effortless rhetorical eviscerations, and Arch's humbling depth of knowledge. I am no match for any of them, but that hasn't stopped me from trying.
What are your political leanings?
Conservative, Republican, and with enough of a libertarian inclination to prove that I have spent too long on the internet. I voted for Ron Paul twice and would do so again. Don't be sad. It's the future we chose!
I trust in institutions, not men. With any luck our institutions will continue to withstand the imperfect men that inhabit them.We may only delay some of the more sinister notions of "progress", but this is something that all conservatives implicitly accept as worthwhile anyway.
The greatest of all political lies is the idea that society is on an inexorable march forward. It's not. We cannot transcend ourselves, and the impulse to revert to tribalism will always exist. We may not be as enlightened or as disciplined as the men responsible for western civilization, but luckily we have the enviable responsibility of merely maintaining these accomplishments.
What are some favorite quotes?
"There cannot be greater rudeness than to interrupt another in the current of his discourse." - John Locke
"Fear is the foundation of most governments; but it is so sordid and brutal a passion, and renders men in whose breasts it predominates so stupid and miserable, that Americans will not be likely to approve of any political institution which is founded on it." - John Adams
"A man's rights rest in three boxes. The ballot box, jury box and the cartridge box." - Frederick Douglass
