I'd suggest the following plan:

I'd pretty much leave the foreparts organless --- so the human part won't really have much in it but muscle, blood vessels and nerves. Perhaps its chest could have lungs for speaking or singing. You might consider a small, secondary heart. But I think most of the

I’m equivocal about the timing; earlier might have been better for him, later might have been better for us.

This is true.

At least for those of us who are newcomers, we got a chance to meet if but for a moment.

Of course there won’t be any surface water on the brown dwarf.

Correct. The red or brown dwarf under consideration is the star around which our prospective planet is orbiting. The image I quoted above is an artist's conception of a (watery) planet orbiting a red dwarf star.

Anyway, according to their founding agreement (when “Union Space” was only one or two eighths or twenty-sevenths as big as it is in Latest Reptigan), the SCs give the Humans any otherwise-habitable planet orbiting a K star, that’s too small or lightweight for their tastes. And if the Humans

On brown dwarfs, it rains iron. Is it possible that there’s a rainy season?

I don't see why not. If there's surface water and the geographical conditions prove favourable.

Thank you very much! Unfortunately I’ve been going through unbearable pain lately and all sorts of other trauma. I am visiting my doctors this week and next and hopefully I can find s way to make it to the other side hoping there is an afterlife. Friends are coming down to visit me ASAP knowing

What’s a “season” in the context of our last several posts?

Presumably some sort of slightly arbitrary division of time on this kind of world that corresponds to the "peak" and "off-peak" divisions of tourism dominated countries and planets all through the known polyverse.

They might have peak seasonal populations of about 10,000 humans, about 90% of whom are tourists (like Vermont’s and Maine’s “leaf-peepers”), with the permanent human population being more like 1,000.

Whatcha think?

Sounds about right.

You should add a copy of Sihler's New Comparative Grammar of Greek and Latin. That's a goody for a deeper look into the language and its history.

What do you mean?

Worlds orbiting brown dwarf stars might be rather appealing to some folks...

Odd. In your address bar, does the url have apostrophes? Or dashes? Or anything else funky?

I doubt brown-dwarf systems are going to have permanent populations in the myriads.

Oh, those. They appear from time to time near the top of the screen, and then disappear. Never pair them any attention!

Though as of now, I can't get into this thread at all:

Where do I see what? The avatars? Over on the right side, in the column where posters' user names are. Yours I see is a dragon with "Sky's the Limit"; mine is a purple clad misterioso that chose when registering at conworlds.com back in the day.

I was told long ago, and accepted as a working hypothesis for years, that in parts of our galaxy like Sol’s “neighborhood”, the average distance between a star-system and the nearest neighboring star-system was about 10 or 11 light-years. But now Wikipedia says it’s actually about 5 light-

Will that make MerCentaurs the only known warm-blooded vertebrates with external fertilization?

I'm not aware of any others.

It does seem that they’ll be both monotreme and marsupial!

Just have to figure out how to make one portion placental...

How about making the tail segment be monotreme dolphins?

But then I’d still need to decide whether fertilization would be internal or external.

I think that could work.

I'd suggest, and as usual, you're welcome to take or leave my suggestions!, that fertilisation be external. This woul
